Anniversaries

4th February is always a strange day for me as it's the anniversary of saying goodbye to the best dog in my world.  My bittersweet day.

Today I saw Victoria's post about a bead that Ohm have just released as a limited edition bead, Love Hurts, and I knew that this captures how today feels for me.

4th February is coincidentally the date that I bought my first Trollbead 2 years ago, so today is also the day I celebrate the start of what is now a wide ranging modular jewellery addiction;  bead duly ordered and ironically I think I might have need of that Bead Wagon now...

  1. So sorry you're feeling a little down sweetie :( I've had an emotional day too as this time last year Jack left me to be admitted to horsey hospital and then never came home :( I admit I blew off the afternoon and went for a ride :(

My heart goes out to you.. some scars don't heal. Isn't it the most amazingly apt charm?

    /healing hugs

    1. Thanks Victoria, yes it's totally apt - knew straight away that this was going to work for me.

Sorry to hear it's been a year since Jack when off to hospital, anniversaries can be hard as they are markers for the hurt that's always there. Hope the ride helped xx

  2. Mars and Victoria, I'm so sorry for both your losses :( If we can learn anything from the four-legged ones who inhabit our lives, it is their immense ability to love, so this bead really does seem like the perfect one to remember them by.

    1. I think this one's going to be very popular judging by the feedback I've been seeing everywhere, seems to appeal to a lot of us.

I've been good though, I did only order this on it's own and not as part of the spend 100 euros get it as a gift with purchase, tempting though that was I also want the T Rex Skull, Skulls and I've a hankering to get a Curling Stone just for the blog :)

  3. I am trying *so* hard not to order it, but it does look like a fantastic bead. I'd love to see what you do with it when you get it :)

I didn't realize they had a curling stone (I probably should have given their other sports-related ones) but that would be a neat one to have for your blog! I really want a few from the Dark Shadows collection to complete my Dexter bracelet so I think I would be tempted to get the gift with purchase :D.

    1. Yes I think I let out a little squee when I saw the Curling Stone, it wouldn't exactly fit with any of my other charms but I do like the idea of it as a "signature" to the end of a bracelet. I've been living with my blog name for 2 years in July but I never imagined anyone would make an actual curling stone charm...

With regards to Love Hurts I am wondering how many they make when it's Limited Edition as I can see this being super popular. I really didn't want to miss out on this as it resonated so strongly with me, it did take all my willpower NOT to order the other beads with it, it made so much practical sense as I've been after some Ohm beads for a while now but I've gone slightly nuts in so many other sales that I really couldn't justify it however hard I tried... and believe me I did try very hard!!

  4. I admit, I put one in my cart late this morning and started the checkout process *hangshead*. BUT, the $25 shipping charge quickly put a stop to that and I'd have to spend $150 to get free shipping. So, I guess it's not meant to be unless one of their retailers with free shipping gets them, and I don't see that happening. It is nice that they offered it as a straight sale and not only as a gift with the $100 purchase though. It is for the best really, as I shouldn't be jumping off the bead wagon just yet.

    1. Oh no, was that via the US site? I'm not sure how it all works with US to Canada...

Have you tried Perlen? - Link is here:

Not trying to tempt you off the wagon but if you really did want it - they didn't have it yesterday when I checked but I thought I'd check when I saw what you'd posted and it's there now.

  5. Oh no .. yes, I didn't find on Perlen earlier, so I assumed it was only available at the online stores that Ohm maintains ... and the $25 was what they were charging from US to Canada :( They must only ship registered or insured or something, as the regular mail cost from the US to Canada is only $6.55

    Dilemma, dilemma, dilemma!

I thought I had decided yesterday that I didn't want it enough to fall off the wagon, but then I've kept going back to look at it all this morning. I'm wondering if partly I want it just because I'm on the wagon and itching to buy something and a limited edition bead seems like something that is "ok" to get off the wagon for. The limited edition beads from the holiday collection are still available, but I imagine this will sell out more quickly than them just because it is more unique.

Well, you have at least provided me with an option now should I decide to take the plunge, so thank you! :D

    1. Oh yes I know that Bead Wagon itch! I'm hoping all the stuff I've got coming will keep me going through the dry patch, my biggest downfall over the last 2 months was actually 2 liquidation stock sales... I've been hankering to get multiples of several silvers I have plus backfill some old production beads - mission accomplished once they arrive but 2 in 2 months has hit the Bead Fund rather hard.

By the way I think you're okay on the Perlen stock, it's now showing as sold out... unless it was your order that did that ;) That was quick as it had only just gone on sale! Mind you we don't know how many they had to start with...
