K is for Knobbly

Not knees but beads!

I love knobbly beads, the knobblier the better!

Beads with single lines of knobs on (the pattern is generally referred to as 2 wing spinner beads)...

Beads with more knobs on, but still subtle (the knobs not the pattern, which is called python if you like these kind of facts)...

Beads with crazy bigger knobs on (there's no pattern name for these that I know of)...

These are not all the knobbly beads I have, for quickness of posting I've borrowed photos taken from last September as I couldn't face dismantling made up bracelets again for bead photos.

Some of these beads have flown the bead nest and some have multiplied in the intervening months... knobbly beads on a bangle give a very different effect to smooth ones, but it's something that's less commonly seen.

My question today is are you pro-knobbly,
anti-knobbly or
are you sitting on a mildly uneven "don't care" fence?

    1. I'm impressed with knobbly beads, I have a go at making some myself and it's hard to keep the knobs on and not accidently melt them in!

    1. You my dear, are very clearly anti-knobbly; if we shop together I know all the knobbly ones are mine!

p.s. dear readers if you didn't already know Louise is responsible for helping give names to a lot of patterns on beads so we all have a vague idea of what we might be talking about...

  4. Definitely pro-knobbly! :) They add such fun texture to a bracelet. I love your all-knobbly bangle, and will have to try that idea myself.

  5. I love python beads and the subtle knobby beads, but steer away from the knobbliest of the knobby beads - I like the look of them, I just don't think I could spend a day with them on my wrist :D

    1. They're suprisingly comfy, but I thought the knobbly vs smooth debate is a good one as I know some people just prefer smooth! I find knobs on glass more comfy that spiky silver beads... I've not worn it but I hear the 2 part Xmas tree can get people that way!

    2. Before I bought him I heard that the redbalifrog Tomte silver was pokey, but I still had to have him! I haven't found him to be pokey at all though, so perhaps some things just get an unearned bad rap :D If I found a Milan or Florence that really called to me I guess I would give it a shot, but so far none have really called out (or other beads have called louder at least!)

  6. Only slightly pro-Knobbly. I like the pythons or waterlily style, and have Moon Ocean and Shining Green Bud, but other Knobblies have been traded away to better homes!

    1. They are all lovely knobbly beads! I've had to rehome several flowers for similar reasons ;)

  7. My grandma always buys me jewelry for birthdays and Christmas (she likes earrings but I guess she has a problem with the fact I have more than two holes in my ears. . . ?) and the bracelets with subtle knobs are always winners. :)

I love saying hi to people who've read my blog, or are just passing through via the A to Z, or anyone not a spam bot!

P.s. If you use an iPad/iPhone and are having trouble leaving a comment on Blogger, you might have better luck using a browser that's not the default iPad one... Then from the "Comment as" drop down menu choose Name/Url (you can leave URL field blank or add your web address) or Anonymous and (hopefully) away you go! Mars xx
