When beads align - Bumpalicious Bangle

Two things happened to bring about a lovely bangle, firstly I bought a fabulous bumpy Elfbead - Swamp Dewdrops.

Then my wonderful Secret Santa sent me a bead from my wishlist... a second Trollbeads Lotus Top to match my first...

Add them all together to create a lovely textured bangle!

My Bumpalicious Bangle

The effect from Swamp Dewdrops reminded me of a similar effect from retired Trollbeads Red Berry - they look quite similar from the sides, I love this style of bead!

Left - Trollbeads retired red berry next to the Elfbead on the bangle
Right - Elfbeads Swamp Dewdrops, side angle

However they are completely different when viewed from the front, not just the size of the bead and the number & size of the bumps, but in how the colour blends through to the front of the bead.

I love both these beads but I only have one of each... I think I actually need two of each - multiple disease strikes again!

Are you a fan of heavily textured beads and silvers?  To bump or not to bump?
Those are today's questions!

  1. I'm not generally a fan of bumpy glass beads, but you've almost won me over with that bangle combo! I generally don't mind textured silvers though.

I really like the repeating pattern/texture of your bangle. Perhaps my aversion to bumpy beads is tied to my need to have balance; if I had one bumpy bead, I'd have to have a second to balance it out. Unless I used it in a bangle like you have it.

    1. I think bumpies whether in single or mutliple can look fabulous on the bangles, they really add a completely different look, this is just a stand out bracelet when it's worn on it's own - it doesn't need anything else. The colours in this Swamp Dewdrops Elfbead are just gorgeous, and I'm so pleased I have a 2nd lotus top as I've been dying to use a pair to end cap a bead :)

I've just had a recent delivery of more bumpies and have done an uber bumpy bracelet, but I think you won't mind it as it's fairly balanced!

  2. I'm scared the bumps will come off, but I am gradually overcoming my fear and have a few!

    1. Yay you! I feel quite secure with these ones :) When I do eventually go and do some lampworking I'll have to ask them about making sure bumps are secured properly ;)

On a side note, I have a friend who hates bumpy beads, shopping with her is quite easy as I know all the bumpies can be mine!

    1. I love them too Ashley, there are some really great colours - would love to see your rainbow effect that sounds fab!!

I still have quite a few Elfbeads to blog about but struggling to fit them in to my schedule at the moment... but I always say I'm late to the party (except when I'm early) so I will get round to covering more of them!

I love saying hi to people who've read my blog, or are just passing through via the A to Z, or anyone not a spam bot!

P.s. If you use an iPad/iPhone and are having trouble leaving a comment on Blogger, you might have better luck using a browser that's not the default iPad one... Then from the "Comment as" drop down menu choose Name/Url (you can leave URL field blank or add your web address) or Anonymous and (hopefully) away you go! Mars xx
