A is for Addiction

"Addicted to Beads"

Hello! Welcome to my A to Z Challenge.  There will be posts every day this month (except Sundays, 'cos that's for Hull Fashion Week which I'll also be blogging in early April).

So what do I mean in my theme by being addicted rather than perhaps I really like beads?

Before it all got out of hand!

10 signs that I might be addicted to, rather than just really liking, beads!
  1. I get cravings for beads, seriously!
  2. I will sell items that belong to me to fund beads.
  3. I lived in a cold house for several years longer than necessary because I was spending my Boiler Fund on beads instead
  4. My work wardrobe is embarrassingly small because every time I go to buy "work clothes" I come home with a bead instead.  I can't remember the last time I bought something new, but it was well over a year ago!
  5. I dream about beads and bracelet combinations
  6. Other people have photos of their loved ones on their phone... I have photos of beads
  7. I organise seeing friends who live far away according to any bead related trips that are due
  8. I spend more time getting ready choosing which beads to wear than the rest of my "getting ready time" all together
  9. We are sometimes late because I can't find the perfect bead despite owing hundreds.
  10. I've not counted my beads for years, the answer would genuinely horrify me.
What is your favourite addiction and why?

P.S. Curious about the other blogs taking part in the challenge? You can find them here!

  1. Is there such a thing as Beads Anonymous, because you sound like you could be their poster child :)

I'm addicted to vampires - movies, books, tv shows - started in the 80's when I saw The Lost Boys. I share my addiction with my twin sister, and she is far worse than me - her vampire movies collection has to be seen to be believed (and some of those movies don't even stand up to the one viewing)! ;P

    1. Hi Sophie

Chuckling at the poster child comment, made me giggle!

I can well understand The Lost Boys kicking off that addiction... I LOVED that film, still have it on video even though I'm not sure we still have a video player, think I bought it on DVD too - absolutely brilliant film. I think I'd bring popcorn around to your sister's house!

  2. Wow, beads really are your thing :). Dammit, Soph said what I was going to say - how could she do that?!!! I'm also addicted to chocolate - I honestly don't think I could live without it :).

    1. Lol well I guess it's your house I'm bringing the popcorn to then, or perhaps some chocolate cake??

I do actually have some chocolate cake in, we were looking yesterday and fancied a treat and worked out it was easier to buy the whole cake than try and be more healthy and buy 2 individual slices... oh well! :)

  4. Yup, most of these apply to me. Craving beads. Dreaming of beads. Selling things to buy beads. Buying beads instead of new clothes. Thankfully I work from home so I only need to dress up if I have a meeting with a client!

I have planned bead-related trips around visits to see friends as well, although every time my bead plans get foiled by one thing or another! And I scope out where I might buy beads when we travel. But most of the time we're heading away from cities, not towards them, so not many bead buying opportunities :)

Beads are definitely my strongest addiction, but garden gnomes are a close second. A part of me really feels like I probably have enough (beads and gnomes!) but it doesn't make the craving any less .... :D

I look forward to what B brings tomorrow!

    1. I have been getting away with a small work wardrobe due to also working from home except when visiting sites/offices... however I've had my photo taken a few times now and it's becoming more apparent that I always wear the same clothes!!

I never owned a gnome but I did watch and enjoy Gnomeo and Juliet! Does that count?

  5. Well, I am mostly addicted to stories :) But 4 out of those 10 are also true for me, so I am probably addicted to shiny things as well :)
    Happy A to Z!

    1. Lol now I'm wondering which 4? Stories are a very good thing to be addicted to... when I try something new I always say I'm collecting a new story for my old age :)

    1. Hi itlnbrt!

Thanks for stopping by for A. I too wish I had more time to pursue hobbies, I really can't wait to retire so I can have more time for this kind of thing... unfortunately that's a long way off!!

I love saying hi to people who've read my blog, or are just passing through via the A to Z, or anyone not a spam bot!

P.s. If you use an iPad/iPhone and are having trouble leaving a comment on Blogger, you might have better luck using a browser that's not the default iPad one... Then from the "Comment as" drop down menu choose Name/Url (you can leave URL field blank or add your web address) or Anonymous and (hopefully) away you go! Mars xx
